CATEGORY DESCRIPTIONS - We accept content already published on the internet.
3D, 360, AR, AI, 5D: Content created with 3D technology or transferred to be screened in 3D. We can review in side x side and screen in DCP. 360, Augmented Reality, Artificial Intelligence and 5D content.
Animation: Including but not limited to Stop Motion, Claymation, Classic, Machinima, etc.
Apps: Apps can be created for the iPhone, iPad, Evo, Nokia's Ovi Store, Blackberry's App World, Palm's App Catalog, Google's Android Market, and Microsoft Windows Marketplace for Mobile or tablets. Judged by Sanjiv Goval, CEO Droisys.com
Digital Comics: Digital Comics are accepted in digital format only (no physical books please). Winner of this category will be judged by a Marvel Graphics Novel published writer.
Documentary: Includes all non-fiction content, any length.
Drone: Includes all genres and lengths, any drone captured content.
Feature: Any format, examples, 35mm, 16mm, 8mm, 2D, HD, 5D, 7D, SI Canon, Alexa, etc.
Mobile/Tablet: Audiovisual works created by your cell phone camera and/or tablet. This medium has become an area of interest for many distributors and other content aggregators.
Music Video: In the very first year of New Media Film Festival a music video won our Shot On Red category. We'd like to Music Videos shot on any format to have an opportunity to win, on its own, among their peers. so, this category was created. New Media: Since New Media is an ever evolving arena, we have this category for those of you that have created something that you feel does not fit into our other categories listed. Possibly Augmented Reality, Artificial Intelligence, 5d, 7d, SI, Interactive, Gaming. If your creative endeavors want an opportunity to be considered for $45k in combined awards and/or distribution and this is the category you feel best fits what you created, please submit in New Media category. We accept all TRT (total running times) from 30 seconds to 2 hours in this category
Pilot: Pilots are for all kinds of projects, usually created to test audience reaction with a view to the production of a series. All TRT accepted.
SCRIPTS - New Media: All stories in text format. All Genres and lengths welcomed. If you write stories worth telling, this is the category for you. Whether it is short of long form, features, shorts, docs, reality, live, TV, pilots, animation, comedy, sitcom, drama, web series, books, ebooks, anything scripted, this is for you. WGA and Non WGA accepted.

Sniplers - 30 second pitch: Sniplers - snippets of a trailer - are 30 second spots that are the stepping stones to get films funded, made, and seen in a longer format.
Sniplers can be produced for any project ranging from web content to features.
The winner of the Sniplers category will be watched by Industry Executives and Production Companies that option, package and make and/or fund films.
SRC- Socially Responsible Content: This is for any type of film & media content that has a socially responsible message and would like to be considered for competition in this category. Including but not limited to PSA's, short Industrials, journalism.
STEAM-Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math: You may submit any genre, any length for this category. The subject matter must at some point touch on or involve one of the elements above.
Student - If you are a student, this is for you. All lengths, All genres accepted. A $250.00 CASH Award will be given to the Best Student Content selected from all entries in this category. Cash Award sponsored by Matthew Martino Benevolent Fund

Virtual Reality - Virtual, Augmented & Mixed Reality, all lengths and applications considered.
Web Series: We accept content that has already been published on the Internet. All formats, genres and TRT accepted. You will be able to send us 3 episodes of your Web Series for the festival review process.
Submission/Entry Process -
Up to 3 people review/screen your content based on story, production value, New Media. If 2-3 of the screeners approve of your content based on our criteria: story, production value, a snippet of new media, you are accepted in to the festival.
Judging Process -
If your content gets accepted into the festival, the New Media Film Festival team will choose category winners and the Grand Prize Winner which are announced at the Awards Ceremony on Closing Night. Judges from HBO, Marvel, Emmys, Oscars, Grammys, BMI, SAG/AFTRA, 3D Int'l Soc. and many more Industry Leaders.
